Yes it is a forgeworld model

The copper color is just sprayed black, painted Tin Bitz then Dry-brushed with Dwarven Bronze.

I varnished the dread and a sm chaplin I had just finished. (GW Matt Varnish Spray) and they both now look crap. I sprayed them in the morning before I went to work and checked them when I got home; the metallics look ..... off and there are some parts of the dread that looks ...... cloudy. Any idea what caused that and how can I fix it without repainting the models?

you mean you used GW Purity Seal varnish ( which is more a satin finish than matt)

The cloudy , not perfectly clear finish you are getting here is usually caused by moisture in the air ... which is water reacting with the varnish .
Were the models left somewhere cold overnight ??? There may have been some condensation on them , enough to cause this . Did you leave them where there is moisture, such as where the washing machine is ???

There may be little you can do ... but if there is not too much opaqueness, i would suggest getting some GW Ard coat gloss varnish and give the models an nice even coat all over with that, or just on the brassy colour areas might give a good effect.

must be a right bummer all the same :(

more info

The effect is caused by moisture in the air and the GW is a shit for doing it. If the models have a powdery feel to them, then a damp, soft paintbrush will remove the powdered varnish.

If its not powdery then its a bit more of an arse. There are two things you can do that sometimes work, but make sure the varnish has been dry for 24 hours before trying them...

1 - Re-spray in a very dry and warm room... This may sort it out, but not always and if you have a dodgy can (which GW themselves owned up to a few years back) it may make it worse.

2 - Buy some Windsor & Newton Artists Acrylic Varnish and paint it on over the model. Try it on one first and this may solve the problem. But make sure you get the acrylic varnish not the one for oil paints which will strip the acrylic paint off!

Failing that, speak to GW. They used to replace models that it happened too.
