War of the Ring

New game coming out from GW, not an expansion for the old LotR game but a new game completely, looks fantastic.

http://warseer.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=18

here's some info on it but other info can be obtained on the GW site,

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... Style=lotr

the typical people I've spoken to who didn't like lotr say this is going to be excellent, that the rules are probably the best GW have written yet!
I know I've already written to you asking for world peace and for a donor to be found soon for my cousin, but please please please forget all that useless stuff and get me this super awesome 3-D dungeon which appears to be made of solidified Jesus blood.

Do you know if it's going to be unit-driven like Warmaster or more skirmishy like Warhammer?

NO! This is always going to be Space Hulk, right?

less skirmishy than LotR. Unit driven closer to fantasy I'd say but I need to read the rules myself. Have a look at the beginners rules on the site

Still very Warhammer-ish though.
I'll wait for play reports...

Are they using the Lord of The Rings models or bringing out new ones again?

War of the Ring? Thats gonna make it confusing to differentiate between this and Fantasy Flight's boardgame.

Having said that, I think it's cool that you can now have armies of awesome looking troops like the Easterlings.

yeah I have easterlings, I love the models.

they're not bringing out a new range of models you can use the same ones although they're bringing out plastic versions of metal things like the army of the dead, you can now buy 20 of them for 14 frikking yoyos!!
